New Maruti Suzuki Ertiga on it’s way

Maruti Suzuki is developing a replacement for their 5 year old working horse i.e. Ertiga MUV.

Sources have told that Maruti Suzuki is developing a new Ertiga which could possibly make it’s debut in Indonesian domestic market by start of 2018. An Indonesian launch will take place by first half of 2018 though.

India might get the new car by fourth quarter of 2018; festive season mainly remains target here.

Ertiga uses 1.4 lt K-series petrol and 1.3 lt turbocharged diesel engines which are compiled with 5-speed manual transmission. It is assumed that Maruti’s new 1.5 lt diesel ,which has already been successfully tested on upcoming Ciaz, might mark it’s debut in new Ertiga as well. With new BS-IV emission norms to get mandatory from 2020; Maruti will have to drop their most beloved engine i.e. 1.3 lt diesel for being a BS-III and hence new 1.5 lt would be an in-house replacement for it.

Design of new car would feature elements from newly updated models like Dzire and upcoming Swift; hence more aggressive & youthful design can be expected for Ertiga as well. Suzuki Indonesia official, Donny Saputra, has also confirmed that a new Ertiga is on it’s way.


New car is also expected to use Maruti’s new HEARTECT chassis design (also used in upcoming Swift) and hence it’ll make the new car much lighter than the recent model. HEARTECT has already helped new Swift to become 120 kgs lighter than the previous model. Lighter car hints for more efficiency too.

New Ertiga might be priced a bit premium from the current generation car but it’ll come equipped with better features and refined technology as well.
